2 years ago I managed to gain a vintage - retro mobility scooter to my fleet of wheeled items it was a 24v batricar and had a big handlebar type steering mechanism and a huge seat although when I first seen it it jumped out as a great donor for my kids first off roader [to the dispare of the wife]
I chopped off the steering and then had a good scratch of the head to conjure up a plan to go ahead with the steering wheel workings I needed to make in to a mini car
after some rummaging through the junk pile I found what I needed [and knew I had somewhere]- its always somewhere its just finding it !!!
it was the front of an old lawnflite lawn tractor with steering attached in good rusted condition
after some faffing about I had it fitted and working really well even my 5 yr old could use it so on to the next hurdle the batteries and charger - for the batteries I simply went to my nearest breakers and found 2 gell leisure type batteries which I swapped for the old ones took them home and attached them separately to 2 car 12v chargers overnight

the next problem was the huge seat and how to adapt it to be driven be a 6yr old this is where the change of design came about and it became a pickup
also the hand control was converted to a foot leaver steel bumpers replaced the plastic ones and a tow hitch was fitted [max it has towed so far is 300kg and driver ]
the wooden design lasted a bit but did get a hammering so this has recently been redone with alloy which is lasting allot better
this project is still evolving as i find new materials and fittings to make it better and as it evolves i will update
to date project cost £20
time to date 15 hrs
